Travel programme
Most travellers will think of the beaches of Goa at the mention of beach holidays. But there is another place in India which is not inferior to Goa in terms of beach holidays, but in some respects it is even superior. This state is Kerala. The name Kerala from Sanskrit translates as "the country of coconuts" or "the country of coconut mountains". Once in the time of King Solomon, the first Jewish settlers moved to Kerala and formed a trading centre here. Now it's a rattling mix of Portuguese, Indian and Middle Eastern.

In Kerala we will definitely visit natural parks with wild animals, tea plantations on the hillsides, beautiful sandy beaches and try the magic of Ayurvedic clinics. Because Kerala is also the birthplace of Ayuverda.

Interesting facts
  • Ayuverda
Ayuverda is the birthplace of Ayurveda in the state of Kerala, so if you want to improve your health, this is the best place to go.Ayuverda translates from Sanskrit as science or knowledge of life. The first references to medicine and the healing properties of plants are found in the Vedas, most notably in the last of the four, the Atharvaveda[14]. Atharvaveda is the first Indian text related to medicine. It identifies living agents as the causes of disease: for example, jatudhanya, krimi and durnama. The Atharvans seek them out and kill them with medicine to defeat the disease. This approach to disease is unexpectedly advanced compared to the trigumoral theory developed in the Puranic period.

  • Alleppey
The Alleppey Plants are a long chain of lakes and small lagoons stretching along the coast of the Arabian Sea. Their total length is 900 kilometres. The uniqueness of this place lies in its ecosystem - the fresh water of the rivers meets the salty waters of the sea. The largest local lake is Vembanad Kayal, which covers an area of 200 square kilometres.

  • Tea plantations
Tea plantations are located in the northern part of Kerala state in India, high in the mountains. The Munnar plantations are considered the most famous - they are the most picturesque and easily accessible. It is not for nothing that this mountain resort is called the "City of Tea".

Cardamom, cloves, nutmeg, pepper, cordial, chai, vanilla are just some of the most famous products of the state. Kerala is the birthplace of the religions of Judaism, Islam and Christianity in India. The first synagogue, mosque and church were built in this coastal state. Kottakkavu Mar Thoma Church in North Paravur is a Syro-Malabar church said to have been built in 52 AD by St Thomas, one of the 12 apostles. Cheraman Juma Mosque was built in 629 AD, during the lifetime of Prophet Mohammed, and is said to be the first mosque in India. The Paradesi Synagogue in Kochi is known as the oldest synagogue in the country, built in 1567.

  • One of the two states in India where communalism thrives
The most popular reason attributed to Kerala's prosperity is the stronghold of communism in the state, which for decades was the largest political force in the state. However, the communalism that is operative in Kerala is unique in its democratic characteristics due to which it remains popular among the public. Thus, the Communist Party of India (CPI) has been a benevolent government in Kerala.
